Dental Insurance – Woodbridge Township, NJ
Helping You Navigate Your Dental Insurance Plan
Many Woodbridge patients have dental insurance but still skip out on their routine appointments and put off treatments they need because they don’t want to tackle the hassle of dealing with a dental insurance company. We completely understand! However, we want you to save money while keeping your smile healthy, which is why we’re happy to step in to help you get the most out of your coverage. Read below to get a basic understanding of how dental insurance works and what the average plan covers.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
To understand your dental insurance plan, there are a few words that you’ll need to commit to memory:
- The maximum is a capped-off amount of money that your dental insurance plan will pay out for your treatments over the course of a calendar year.
- The deductible is an amount of money set by your dental insurance company that you’ll be required to pay out-of-pocket before your benefits kick-in.
- The premium is the annual or monthly amount that you pay to receive dental insurance benefits.
- In-Network. If a provider is in-network with your insurance company, it means that they’ve negotiated discounted rates and fees with them.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
It’s important to preface this information with the fact that no two dental insurance policies are the same, so you’ll need to call your company directly in order to confirm whether a treatment will be covered. However, the average plan determines coverage based on a 100-80-50 structure. This means that they cover 100 percent of the cost of basic preventive care like checkups and cleanings, 80 percent of simple treatments like cavity fillings, and 50 percent of more serious procedures like tooth extractions.
